Minimum age 14 years (or 18+ preferred), basic literacy & numeracy, and physical ability to perform CPR on a manikin for at least 2 minutes

Course Overview

Provide Basic Emergency Life Support is designed for individuals who may be required to provide an emergency response in various settings.
You’ll learn how to recognise and manage life-threatening situations such as cardiac arrest, shock, bleeding, and airway obstruction — ensuring safety and composure under pressure.

This course aligns with the latest Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines and is ideal for anyone looking to meet workplace first aid requirements or build personal emergency readiness.

Core & Elective Units

This is a single unit of competency:

  • Provide Basic Emergency Life Support

Learners undertaking this unit will also gain or refresh skills aligned with Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, as CPR is a core component of this training.

Work Placement Requirements

  • Renewal of this qualification every 3 years is advised for compliance
