This nationally recognised qualification prepares you to support individuals with disabilities to live with dignity, independence and community participation. You’ll develop advanced skills in person-centred support, coordination, advocacy and leadership in a range of disability care settings.

Entry Requirements:
18 years or older, basic literacy & numeracy, access to computer & internet; plus completion of a relevant Certificate III qualification or approved skill-set.
Work Placement:
120 hours (arranged or supported by our partner RTOs)
Course Overview
The Certificate IV in Disability Support is intended for professionals who are committed to enhancing the lives of people with disability. You’ll learn how to coordinate supports, implement person-centred plans, supervise others and ensure quality services that promote independence and inclusion.

Core Units
- Follow established person-centered behaviour supports
- Facilitate community participation and social inclusion
- Facilitate ongoing skills development using a person-centered approach
- Provide person-centered services to people with disability with complex needs
- Manage legal and ethical compliance
- Work with people with mental health issues
- Maintain work health and safety

Career Opportunities

This qualification also provides a pathway into further study, such as the Diploma of Community Services or specialized leadership roles.
Work Placement Requirements
- A minimum of 120 hours of practical placement in a registered disability or community setting.
- Students must obtain a National Police Check, Working with Children Check, and proof of vaccination as required by state or territory legislation.
- Assistance with placement coordination is available through our partner network.
Recognition of Prior Learning & Credit Transfer
If you’ve already worked in the community or disability sector, you may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
Your experience and previous studies can count towards units in this qualification — saving you time and cost.
